I released the first batch of Deadly Buda NFTs on August 17, 2021. This continues the biggest and most ambitious creative work of my life, the Deadly Buda project. Most of you reading this are familiar with some aspect of my creative life, whether it be: graffiti art, music production, writing, animation, DJing, or perhaps my commercial life as a rave promoter, publisher, blockchain ambassador and pioneer, and even trading card producer (the Unstoppable Stickers series in Rap Packs).
The Deadly Buda NFT project combines every one of these aspects of my life, also, it integrates the personal and spiritual life of myself, friends, family, fans, society and adversaries. I am giving you and anyone who stops to notice, 100% of everything God has given me in life so far and begging Him for more to make it better.
The core of this project knowingly began about 20 years ago, its foundation decades before that. In the early 2000’s a question was asked of me, “If you had all the money in the world, and never had to worry about getting more, what would you do?” My answer was that I would make a Deadly Buda animated movie, an idea that started as a comic book proposal around 1994, and sporadically appeared in various rave-related media I produced. But, it had to help people. Their lives would have to be better by seeing, hearing, or experiencing it.
At that point in my life, I was just glad to be alive. Years of self-destructive behavior (I was fortunate to survive) had finally taught me that there was no joy in a selfish life. To make the project worthy of a life’s time, I would have to give the project my all, even though it was going to be a massive undertaking that required foregoing some comforts any person would reasonably prefer.
Back then, I thought I would have the project on screen in 5-10 years. But life had to teach me more before I was able to help anyone else. Seeming detour after detour occurred, but in retrospect they were all necessary if I was to achieve my original goal. The Deadly Buda project is not just something that is supposed to look and sound good, it is supposed to address your soul, and I needed more wisdom to do that. As the project continues there will be more wisdom needed.
Since its earliest days, people have been interested in funding the Deadly Buda project. However, it always seemed this project would have a unique path. It appears now that path is via NFTs. It is a way that believers in the project can truly have somethings of it, thing that helps fund the project’s expansion and may even become more valuable in and of themselves someday.
But, buy them because you believe in me, or the project, or just like the creativity. I would love these to someday make you rich, but all I can promise is that I will give this project my all. My efforts, triumphant wins and embarrassing, cringy, punch-myself-in-the-face failures are all going into this. Sure, I have family, personal and community obligations, but even those moments, for me, fuel this project.
If you have wondered where I’ve been, why I haven’t wrote or called back, why I haven’t been spinning lately, or why I haven’t painted a wall in X amount of years, its because of this: a project that I hope will eventually be bigger and more spectacular than anything I’ve ever done, and worth the wait.
The rhythm is life and death!
