DEADLY BUDA
Age: 29
Home Base: LA
Style: WildStyle
DJing How Long: 15 years.
Production Credits: Various releases on Communique, Praxis, Fukem, Mokum, Level 2, Deadly Systems and Atomic Hardcore.
Mixtapes: There are plenty of old mixtapes floating around, but check out the new ones being released this year - Reverse Engineered, Normopath Fear Inducer, WildStylism and Tracers (old rave tunes, new mixes).
Best Party DJed: Catastrophic’s ‘92-’93 New Year’s party in Washington, D.C. It was the first time I had ever played out of my home town at the time, Pittsburgh, PA. It was 5,000 people going absolutely off their face in this warehouse. The vibe was already strong and when I got on, I hit people with an absolutely riveting trance/breakbeat/hardcore set and the place went nuts. It was a great time to be a rave DJ because the sound was wide open.
What sets you apart? I go out of my way to get real wild tracks and the courage to play’em out before almost anyone. I don’t stay at one boring bpm range all night either. I might go from 100 to 250 in the space of an hour- and-a-half set, and it flows. Also, I draw and do CG for all the covers for my record label, Deadly Systems, which go together in a story. I also write for a number of mags, as well as editing an annual journal about the music/culture called The Deadly Type.
