Is Pittsburgh ready to meta-MORPH-asize? The Deadly Buddah believes it is. Morph will take place at 2 p.m. this Sat., Sept. 3 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Uniontown, PA. The groundbreaking multi-media event, definitely not for the sleep-conscious, expanses over a continuous 21 -hour period with an eclectic variety of entertainment on a scale as elaborate as a Superbowl-half-time show. The event’s coordinator, Joel Bevacqua a.k.a The Deadly Buddah of Millenium Productions, promises it to be: “A creative explosion, the ramifications of which can only be theorized.” What exactly is the Morph? as a coordinator and Rave D.J. for the past three years and a former NYU art scholar, the Buddah’s inspiration was to create an event that incorporated multi-media devices with all aspects of artistic expression. The futuristic promoter decided rather than to throw the traditional Rave consisting exclusively of techno-D.J. acts, Millenium should recognize the fact that multi-media events are an excellent venue to further convey all types of artistic expression. Budda states: “What we-currently think of as a Rave is over. After this event, it can never be the same. Live bands will never be the same either. What we are looking at is a fundamental change in entertainment. It’s a new way of inspiring each other.” Therefore, Millenium has gone further than enlisting the talents of over 20 internationally recognized D.J.s, The Morph also combines performances by the Circus Apocalypse Sideshow, installations by local Pittsburgh artists, sound and lights orchestrated by Chujko Brothers, the area’s first viewing of a “white lazer,” Eyegasm (a light show to rival the likes of ‘a Pink Floyd concert), and live musical performances throughout the night by Thickhead Grin, Kelly Affair, Hell Bell, Ton-a-Bricks, Holden-Caufield, Madjackets, Blindsight, Bonehead, and The African Drum Ensemble.
The Buddah feels that Pittsburgh is the prime market for such an event. “It seems that the mass media underestimates the taste and intelligence of the people of Pittsburgh. With the Raves, we refuse to compromise on what the people desire, which ultimately is change. That is why we designed an event that is more than the sum of its parts. We want all walks of life to be in one place. We want them to see they are all about the same thing. I believe that the different genres will rub off on each other and finally metamorphasize to create something entirely new.”
The Morph staff of over 200 has spared no expense to make the event a success. All live entertainment is under outdoor shelters and bus trips are available from the 0akland Beehive to keep parking problems minimal. If you are travelling by car, take the PA Turnpike going East and get off the turnpike at exit 8, New Stanton. Proceed to take Route 119 South directly to the Fayette County Fairgrounds.
